Oil major replaces its Legacy Information tracking and management system with a compact system built using SAP CRM.
 
The Client
The client is the world’s largest oil corporation with the largest crude oil reserves and production. The company’s oil operations cover Saudi Arabia including territorial waters in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea totaling more than 1.5 million sq. km and proven reserves of 259.8 billion barrels of oil. Its revenue stands at an excess of $200 billion, as of April 2008.
 
The Challenges
With rapidly evolving business needs, maintaining and tracking huge amounts of information was of paramount importance to the client. The Client was running a proprietary web based Information Tracking & Management System to manage its plant operations. However with evolution of business and rapid expansion, their proprietary tool proved to be redundant and weak to handle the growing demands of the users. The client needed a robust and sturdy tool which could scale up to their needs.
 
The Solution
Our team of consultants studied the clients existing SAP system and recommended a Solution in which SAP CRM and other SAP business suite applications would be used to replace the existing system. We designed a Task Management Engine (TME) within the CRM which would be the core for Task Management functionality. TME was integrated with relevant backend systems to provide a total Solution which would meet the current and future corporate wide task management requirements. Our team decided to utilize the existing SAP CRM landscape, standard tools to fabricate the TME – CRM to minimize large scale customizations and save expenses in building an optimal system.
